Meaningful Moment
Today I started to feel not so good. I had eaten a protein bar, which was very heavy on the belly, earlier in the day, and thought that might be the cause. But Deb and I discussed how we were both feeling and we had some same symptoms, although to different degrees.
Over the past 3 days we have been drinking a lot of water because of the burning sun and the lack of shade. There's a well understood condition where a person drinks so much water that they lose electrolytes. It's possible that's what happened to me.
So we headed over to the local supermarket and bought bottles of Powerade, which is a drink that re-infuses important vitamins and minerals. It may be coincidence, but since I've been drinking Powerade, I felt a bit better.
The real test will be tomorrow because Deb and I have to climb the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range. Once we start the climb, we will have to go up 1800 ft in about 3 MI which translates to about 600 ft per mile. All the reading I've done says that this is a very hard climb.
Random Thought of the Day
The bartender filled four bottles of water for me today. We're going to need all that water tomorrow and I wouldn't be surprised if we drink every drop along with two bottles of Powerade.
On the Road / Notable memories
The trail markings were good in many places but there were two occasions where the markings disappeared and I got confused as to which way we should be going. Wasted some time.
